There is a right way to launch something new, and then there is our way.

The Netherlands, November 28, 2024 - If we were to start from scratch, one thing’s for sure: we’d separate the restaurant and bar playgrounds from our hotels. They deserve their own spotlights. So, today we announce two brands: Somersault and Frozen Lemons. Created by people with ideas and dreams. And, of course, some experience to know it’ll probably work.


Somersault is not a hotel group, and that's the point. Not one sticking to tradition. Because we believe in designing spaces that go beyond aesthetics and functionality. Our hotels are living, breathing environments that allow guests to feel something deeper. A sense of belonging, inspiration, and reflection. We are rethinking lifestyles through a portfolio of lifestyle collection brands. Europe? Absolutely. Globally? Maybe. Because when we do it our way this time, the world becomes our playground.


And do not overlook Frozen Lemons. That’s where the fun really begins. Too often, we experienced that restaurants and bars are treated as mere add-ons. Like a hotel’s afterthought. Not with us. With Frozen Lemons, we mix flavour, creativity, and energy to create hubs that make people feel alive. We believe in the power of celebration and connection. Think of it as a creative R&B studio, from in-house concepts to full-scale operations. There will always be something to celebrate, events that turn nights into stories, ensuring people never forget where they have been or how it made them feel. Our restaurants are made for everyone, whether you're a local or just happen to be staying in the (lucky you) Somersault hotel next door.

Here’s the twist: from day one, we’ve split our hotels from our restaurants and bars. Two worlds. Two mindsets. One shared obsession.

The faces behind Somersault & Frozen Lemons have done this before. From launching the first Autograph Collection hotel in the Netherlands and Belgium, to the first Tribute Portfolio hotel and three R&B destinations in Barcelona, and once overseeing Europe’s largest Holiday Inn Express hotel in Amsterdam. Those years, managing 23 hotels across Europe, taught us plenty.

Lessons we’re now twisting, turning, and playing with. We want to reshape the way spaces are conceived, designed, and experienced. Multifunctional. Alive with possibility. To do that, we need to be part of the very foundations of what’s to come. For this, co-developing and owning the property is the cornerstone. In the end, no matter how digital life becomes, bricks and mortar are still essential for running a hotel or restaurant business. Enter Somersault Real Estate.

What’s next? Well, that’s up to you. We are building. Expanding. Experimenting

A quick refresher on who’s behind it all: Creative Director - Rick van Erp who spends more time sketching ideas than sleeping. Big-picture thinking? Absolutely. Attention to detail? Well, that is where the Co-Founder and CEO of Somersault Nathalie Zonneveld steps in. She is the one who takes his wildest ideas and makes them reality. However, this is not a two-person show. Behind the founders is a team of frontrunners. The deal negotiator - Huib van Erp, creative mind - Florianne Hazelzet, global designer - Rutger van Erp, ICT Expert - Jeroen Jansen and the R&B concept creators - Sophia Kahtane and Miljo Weimar. Think of it as a mix of a rock band. Everyone comes from a different background, with their own expertise, but we all share one thing in common: we have worked together before. Maybe that’s why we’re still having fun.

Somersault and Frozen Lemons are here to bring the heat, the cool, and everything in between. What’s next? Well, that’s up to you. We are building. Expanding. Experimenting. And yes, we are letting a few curious minds in on the journey. Speculation is part of the fun.
